The funny thing about Lauren is I'm not sure we liked each other too much when we first met. That was over a year ago and now she's one of my dearest, dearest friends. We quickly learned that our birthdays are a week apart, we hate mushrooms and cats, and we drink our americanos strong and black. Over time we realized we had more in common than our love of dogs, and feisty Scorpio attitudes. It didn't take me long to realize Lauren is just a really good, solid friend. She was the one I called the night I found out Daphnie had cancer and she dropped what she was doing to give me company. So basically, what I'm trying to say is 1) Derek is a lucky dude and 2) I was so excited to get these two in front of my camera.
Derek and Lauren have been together for 10 years. Let me repeat that. TEN YEARS. They are high school sweethearts and best friends. Their relationship has an ease about it that is anything but boring after being with one another for so long. There's a comfortableness they have that is just so sweet. I'm excited they're tying the knot and that they chose me to document this exact time in their changing lives. Congrats you two!
