Is there such a thing as "parent fever"? If there isn't than I just invented it while editing the portraits I took of Cecily and Drew with their brand new baby, Lola. Don't get me wrong, Lola is ADORABLE, but I found myself entranced by her mom and dad. Image after image they are looking at her with glazed eyes full of amazement and so much joy they could burst. I've never seen two people more in love. Ladies and gentleman, this is why I photograph.
It's funny when you meet someone while they are pregnant and it just seems normal, as if they have always been that way and you couldn't possibly see it any different. Then, months later when you see them without a big belly it seems weird (when in reality they have probably spent the first 20 or 30 years of their life without a big belly.) It's like moving to Portland with short hair. Everyone I meet will associate me with this look. Little do they know I've only had this hair for 6 months of the 28 years I've been alive.
Cecily is so adorable, beautiful, and comfortable in her skin that you'd think she'd been pregnant her entire life. She wears that baby so well that I might not even recognize her without it. And considering we took these photos just weeks shy of her due date, it's even more incredible. Isn't she stunning? Cecily and Drew were my very first clients in Portland, taking advantage of my amazing moving special! They were a delight to hang out with and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Cecily chose Cathedral Park under the St. Johns Bridge and Columbia Park for photos, two spots near her house in North Portland that they frequent often with their dogs. I can't wait to meet their daughter Lola next week when we get together for newborn portraits!

We didn't get along very well at first, but here we are five years later and damn if I'm not a little nostalgic for the time we've spent together. You have been the backdrop for heartache, finding new love, a lot of mistakes, making a ton of life-long friends, learning to be bold, outdoor adventure, and the place where I truly became an adult and blossomed as a professional photographer. You are one of my true loves, but it's time for a change.

I'm dusting off the ole blog today to explain to you why it's been so quiet around here. Scott and I have been talking for over a year about making a big move and several weeks ago, after some unexpected changes in work, he and I decided to stop talking about moving and MOVE. We're moving to Portland, Oregon! Once the decision was made and the date was picked, our lives felt flipped over and shaken up. We've been selling everything in our house, finishing up lose ends with clients, working our two weeks for second jobs, having goodbye parties, and planning a MASSIVE ART SALE. It's been busy, to say the least but we're SO excited. SO EXCITED for a change. Look out Oregon, here we come!
